The Kuntino Suites with its own Kuntinos Café have been located in the heart of the historic centre of Merano, right in the “Lauben”, since 2019. In 1956, the Kuntner family opened a shoe shop here in the arcades, which still exists today. In 2015, the family acquired the last part of the building at 309 Lauben, right next to the shoe shop, and had it extensively restored. Architects and designers have combined the valuable traces of the past with modern comfort and high-quality interiors with great sensitivity, creating a special jewel box in the heart of Merano with the Kuntino Suites.

Aurelie Kuntner, the hotel’s daughter, took over responsibility for the Kuntino Suites when she was only 25 years old – typical of South Tyrol, because here the fusion of tradition and modernity is not a tactic, but a way of life close to home.

In the nine suites, the history of the hotel has been carefully preserved and at the same time offers an aesthetic programme of contrasts: vaulted ceilings, ornate tiled stoves and antiques merge with clean lines and modern comfort to create a literally stylish ambience. Tranquillity spreads behind the historic walls, although the pulse of the spa town beats directly in front of the mighty entrance door on the ground floor. Some of the suites have a small terrace or balcony overlooking the rear courtyard, where only the chirping of birds can be heard.

Well served and "hetz hobn" (have fun)

Café Kuntinos is located directly in the building. The glass façade in the stairwell makes it easy to see if there is still a seat available. Guests of the Kuntino Suites can start the day here with healthy bowls, bruschetta, piadine, freshly squeezed juices or delicious 100% Arabica coffee.

The hostess of Kuntino Suites, Aurelie Kuntner, is behind the bar herself, together with Christian Comper, who has already mixed cocktails in legendary bars such as Icebergs in Sydney and serves delicious aperitifs. Guests will find a wide range of options for lunch and dinner.

Aurelie Kuntner advises each guest personally and reserves a table in the restaurant of their choice. South Tyrolean cuisine is known for its Mediterranean influence. In Merano you will find Michelin-starred restaurants as well as down-to-earth inns with traditional cuisine. Fine wines from the wineries are the ideal accompaniment to the dishes.
