Place of power in the middle of the Seiser Alm

The ICARO, a retreat and oasis of energy, is located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 1936, it has carefully and lovingly overlooked and guarded the Alpe di Siusi in South Tyrol, 1,910 metres above sea level. Sculptural peaks rise up around the exciting new architecture. This place inspires, offers wondrous time-travelling experiences and satisfies longings. Welcome! At ICARO, you will not only encounter the mountains and nature, but also pleasure, art, architecture, leisure and yourself.

Although the ICARO is architecturally impressive, it quietly withdraws in awe of the imposing cultural and natural landscape of the Seiser Alm. Larch wood envelops the house, trunks pile up, interlock, cross and connect, supporting the wing-shaped roof, which opens out towards the south, both powerful and protective. It seems as if the guest is listening to a dialogue between nature and architecture.

A total work of art at the entrance to the Dolomites

The Almhotel is an effervescent, lively temporary refuge. The entrance welcomes you with a changing Art Wall, colourful sofas and divans along the bright main axis invite you to have an intimate chat or browse through magazines, rooms and suites invite you to retreat. Every room in the ICARO has its own story: works of art and objects tell of people and places, reveal passions and rituals. In the interplay between indoors and outdoors, between insights and views, between preserving history and thinking about new things, you as a guest become part of the alpine pasture and the ICARO becomes a refuge for resting and dreaming, for meeting and discussing, for rain and moving around, for enjoying, pondering and doing nothing.

Host Angelika Sattler’s love of the contemporary can be felt and seen throughout ICARO: Works of art find refuge in the raw walls of the underground garage, nestle in swimming pool walls and look out of rooms into corridors. At ICARO, art also inspires.
